Rang bhar se – the Aftermath !

Holi hai !!
The phrase itself is capable enough to fill one with enthusiasm and mischief.
We pick the ONE t-shirt that was overused enough to be given away but was kept for this one last event 😉
For few smart ones, step two includes applying some color beforeand so that you don’t step out to be the cleanest and most lucrative prey, who then gets subjected to the most merciless coloring ritual 😀
The gulals (dry colors), pichkaris (water guns), water balloons, music, and gujiyas (sweets) take a good toll on our moods and fill us up with happiness and enthusiasm.
Had too much fun right ?
Now what about getting those colors off your epidermis?

Very well, in case you forgot to apply oil or moisturizer before stepping out. Let your worries take a back seat and continue scrolling down:

I. Options for skin:

  1. Wash your face with water. After washing, apply lemon juice and aloevera on cotton and wipe it on your face. This solution will help you get rid of dry colours on the skin. To remove paint from the skin, soak cotton in coconut oil and wipe it all over your face. Wash if you feel excessively greasy or oily on the face.
  2. Use soaked amchur powder and avoid excessively washing your face as this can lead to drying and irritation.
  3. Using coconut oil on the face before soap also aids in removing the colour, as does the rubbing of lemon wedges on the skin with oil and wheat flour mixture.
  4. You can mash a banana in a bowl and add two spoons of milk and honey into it and mix them well. Apply the pack everywhere there is colour on the skin and allow it to dry. After around 45 minutes, scrub the pack off with the help of mildly warm water. Since the pack is home-made and natural, you can apply it as couple of times more until the colour is gone.
  5. To make sure that holi colours don’t leave your face dry and desperate for moisture, mix one spoon of masoor dal with one spoon of flour, one spoon of rose water and a pinch of turmeric powder. Apply the pack on your skin or face and let it dry for 20-25 minutes. Once dried, gently scrub the face with very little lukewarm water for 5 minutes and wash it off with water later. You will discover that your face has become clean, clear and healthy.
  6. Make a paste of besan with milk or yoghurt, sweet oil, and rose water, and apply it on your skin. After five minutes, rinse your face gently with a delicate soap and water.
  7. A cleanser that has lemon and aloe vera in it is also highly potent to remove colour. Even Cetaphil cleansers and antiseptic cream application are capable of this.
  8. Face Pack for Dry Skin:
    1 tsp almond powder
    1 tsp honey
    2 drops lemon juice
    little milk
Make a paste of all the ingredients and apply it your face. Let it stay for 20 minutes. Wet your hand with little water and try to rub offthe pack from the face. This will make your skin soft and clean.
    Face Pack for Oily Skin:
    1 tsp Masoor Dal
    dried Orange peel
    1 tsp rose water
    2 – 3 drops lemon juice
Make a paste of all ingredients and apply it to the face. When the pack gets dried, apply some water on your hands and then try to rub off the pack.

To nullify itchiness, use a combination of glycerine with rose water on your face and rinse it with warmer water.
Apply moisturizer or anti septic cream to your skin after you have removed colors.

Avoid getting a bleach or facial for at least a week so that your skin can normally obtain balance.

II. Options for hair:

For your hair, applying egg yolk or curd and leaving it for about 45 minutes before using a mild shampoo is also an effective method to rid your hair of holi colour and its damaging chemicals.

  • In case you are having trouble removing colour from your hair, take one tablespoon of lemon juice and mix it in a cup of curd. Apply this mixture on your scalp and rinse it. Use herbal shampoo or home-made shampoo mentioned above to wash the mixture off.

The following day, 2 teaspoons fenugreek seeds, shikakai powder 3 cups – water, and amla powder should be used to make a boiled mixture with which you can shampoo your hair. Post this procedure, apply henna to your hair.

Enjoy !!
